Everyone, everywhere deserves a sustainable future, that’s why we are supporting RIPPLE Africa provide African communities with a hand up and not a hand OUT. Based around the rural village of Mwaya in the Nkhata Bay District of Malawi, the charity’s overriding aim is to empower communities so they themselves can achieve a sustainable future. They strongly believe that it is the local people who are the solution to many of the challenges they face.
Everything RIPPLE Africa does is in response to the local communities’ needs: Fish for Tomorrow is protecting fish along a third of Lake Malawi’s shoreline by helping fishing communities protect fish breeding areas, monitor net use and issue local fishing permits.
Through their Forest Conservation Project they have planted over 6 million new trees and helped local people build 43,000 fuel efficient cookstoves.
With support from The Good Little Company, RIPPLE Africa is committed to all projects for the long term; led by the local people; operating at a grassroots level; involving the community in all aspects of its activity is helping to ensure that the local communities have a positive, more prosperous and happy future in an amazing country.
We empower local communities to achieve a sustainable future by providing a hand UP and not a hand OUT. Ongoing education and support are the key to our success ~ we’re in it for the long term.
